Sports and gym turf in Lexington

Natural grass fails fastest wherever the same movement repeats. A batting cage wears to dirt at the plate. A soccer drill area goes bare at the cones. A backyard practice net kills the grass beneath it in a single season.

Sports turf is a different product

Landscape turf will not survive athletic use. Sports turf uses a shorter, denser pile with nylon or reinforced polyethylene fibres and a heavier backing. Infill is usually higher volume for footing stability, and for high-impact areas we install a shock pad underneath — the same principle as playground surfacing, tuned for joints rather than falls.

Indoor installations

Garages, basements and outbuildings are common. Indoor work needs no drainage base, so it installs over the existing slab with a pad, which makes it faster and generally cheaper than an outdoor equivalent. Turf can be glued down permanently or laid loose for a space that changes use.

What it costs

Sports turf typically runs $9 to $18 per square foot installed, higher where a shock pad or inlaid features are involved. Indoor installations over an existing slab usually come in lower. Full pricing here.
